PAM asked Idris – a.k.a. Eyedress – some questions to see what's inside that smooth, green head of his.
There are nice parallels between the layered-ness of the collection and of your work. Can you talk a bit about the inspirations or genres you're interested in putting close together at the moment?
i like collages i like putting two things that don’t normally go together like a boat in the sky or a car on the water idk i just like when things don’t make sense i love art that’s surreal and dreamy but tbh lately my inspiration just comes from trippin hard on dmt and mushrooms and then like coming back to reality and as much as possible staying grounded i think having my family let me do whatever i want helps me keep my feet on he ground my wife is very supportive of my lil trips i think being a very diy person growing up has always bled into my work i’ve always been a punk at heart but yeah i also love collaborating and the magic of when two people work together and create something totally unexpected im like constantly chasing that feeling all the time
When/where/how did you first discover PAM?
first time i bought pam was probably at the machine a store in london when i used to live there in like 2013-2014 but ive always known about the brand ever since the hype blogs would always share their new drops i just couldn’t afford it until i got my first record deal haha
Boaty’s contribution to the artwork is so fresh, what was it like collaborating with your 5 (now 6) year old?
we collaborate all the time pam is just the first real brand to ask us to do it officially and for that i am truly blessed i don’t think my son realizes how insane it is that he designed a capsule for pam because he has autism but i think as he gets older i think it’ll eventually register that we’ve been trying to get him to do cool things with his talents eversince he was a lil one
You've been a long term PAM fan, when did get your first piece? Do you remember what it was?
shit i don’t even remember i don’t have a lot of my old clothes cuz they’re all in manila and i haven’t seen much of my stuff since i moved to la in 2018 but i remember buying some pam stuff from virgil normal around that time and i remember buying @beeeyee some pam shorts for his birthday
The new PAM collection looks at human mark-making. What mark do you hope to make on Earth?
hopefully one that isn’t artificial something real raw and honest and childlike i’m kind of like peter pan in my mind how i never wanna grow up though im 36 now and that is getting a lot harder for me these days but i still try to think like my younger self at least when im being creative i never wanna lose what that feels like even though the world sometimes can make you feel otherwise i just want my mark to be like a dmt trip something that’s out of this world and full of layers cuz that’s what my mind looks like it’s colorful and kind of dark at the same time
